For this large single house located above Middle Harbour, our concept drew from the geographical structure of its surroundings – headlands, bays and gullies – as inspiration for the form and organisation of the house.
To break down the mass of the house, we drew the geography of the bay into the configuration of the house, creating two ‘headlands’ with landscape and water between them.
To accentuate the connection of this 'headland' concept to the site, we detailed the glazing in the walls to sit flush with the surface of the render to create the effect of a facade around the pool that also had the reflective qualities of water.
